Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam. Enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive to Selous National Park, passing through charming Tanzanian villages and beautiful landscapes. As you approach the park, keep an eye out for wildlife along the road!

Upon arrival, you will embark on a game drive across the park’s diverse terrains. Selous is home to one of the largest populations of African wild dogs and offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Tanzania. As you traverse the park, you can expect to see an array of animals, including buffalo, hippos, zebras, antelopes, and more. Selous is also a bird lover’s paradise, with over 400 bird species to admire.

Take a break from your adventure and enjoy a scenic picnic lunch by the Rufiji River, the lifeblood of Selous. The river is home to large populations of hippos and crocodiles, which can often be spotted from the banks. Relax and take in the stunning surroundings as you refuel for the afternoon.

After lunch, continue your game drive deeper into the park. The afternoon is a great time to spot predators such as lions and leopards, which often emerge as the day cools down. You’ll explore more of Selous’ untouched wilderness before starting the journey back to Dar es Salaam.
